griland enhances carbon storage on rapeseed cultivation

Carbon storage in soils is a complement to reducing emissions in order to achieve carbon neutrality. The field crop sector accounts for 86% of this additional storage potential.

In the Normandy region, Agriland is piloting carbon storage valorization tests on rapeseed cultivation with the Creully cooperative.

In order to maximize CO2 capture and storage, Agriland has accompanied the incumbent’agriculturer to change the following practices:

  • Full labor –> cultural technique simplified
  • No plant cover –> introduction of intermediate crops nitrate traps
  • No’supply of organic matter –> supply of compost and manure of champignonniere
  • Sale of straws after harvest –> sale of’one straw on two to stimulate the layer of’humus

On this farm, the cultivation practices introduced on the farmland have contributed to the trend towards carbon neutrality, maintain soil fertility and increase the income of the’ farm.
